Boot Camps

No registration  or fee is required to attend our free monthly workshops. Our half-day, mini-boot camps and in-depth boot camps charge a minimal fee to compensate the speakers’ time and expenses and pay for refreshments.

 

Mini-Boot Camp: Effectively Marketing Your Book: The How-to’s, Do’s and Don’ts

Location: Woodmen Valley Chapel, 290 Community Center lower level, Room 117/118.

This boot camp covers the nitty-gritty of book marketing. Tim Close reveals the practical how-to’s authors are desperate to know.

  • What a publisher’s marketing/publicist marketing plan includes. You’ll see how to put together a marketing plan, what to include, and how to choose your best path.
  • What to include in your book proposal. You’ll hear what publishers look for and what makes you stand out.
  • What the pub board evaluates regarding the author’s marketing plan.
  • Building your platform. Social media. E To blog or not to blog. Where to begin? When to post? What to post? Which social media networks target specific audiences?

Presenter: Tim Close, Senior Director of Marketing & Strategy

Tim Close develops the marketing strategies for David C. Cook and oversees day-to-day marketing activities. He has a wealth of experience in both the marketing and publishing industries, with expertise in new product development, digital marketing technology, as well as leading marketing teams in strategic and successful campaigns.  Close received his Bachelors in English from UCLA. He previously served as the CEO at CrowdScribed, CEO at Douglas Shaw & Associates and Senior Vice President at Zondervan Publishers, Vice President of Marketing and Communications at Serta Inc., as well as Interim Head of Marketing at Ignite USA.
